Executive search companies are swamped by CVs from foreign managers who want to come and work in Romania and from Romanians who left several years ago, and want to return home because of the international financial crisis. Ciprian Sandu, 39, has left his job as a marketing senior manager with AT&T Mobile, the largest telecommunications company in the US to come to Romania, where he has set up a management consulting company, Saciro Consulting. "I knew the system was going to collapse. I actually thought the crisis would strike sooner than it did," Sandu says. Whereas before the start of the financial crisis, job demands from abroad covered all fields of activity, at present those who want a job in Romania increasingly come from a banking, investment banking or consultancy background. "Foreigners view Romania as having a financial stability that their countries have lost," says Mihaela Scarlat, consultant with executive search company Advice Human Resources.
